Kathmandu – Nepal Oil Corporation has significantly increased the prices of petroleum products, pushing petrol to an all-time high.
The corporation has raised the price of petrol and diesel by Rs 15 per liter. The decision was made during a board meeting held on Chaitra 19.
According to the new price list effective from Friday midnight, petrol in Kathmandu Valley now costs Rs 202 per liter, while diesel and kerosene are priced at Rs 172 per liter.
The corporation stated that continuous increases in international fuel prices, largely due to ongoing conflict in the Middle East, have put pressure on supply chains and costs.
It also revealed that it is currently incurring a biweekly loss of approximately Rs 13.21 billion due to the existing pricing structure. The adjustment was necessary to manage losses and ensure smooth supply.
Experts warn that the price hike could impact transportation costs and daily consumer goods, adding further financial burden on the public.
