A local leader of the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) has been arrested in Jajarkot on allegations of assaulting and physically attacking a woman.
The arrested individual has been identified as Mohan Bikram Shahi, the party’s chairperson in Kushe Rural Municipality.
According to police, the incident occurred at around 8:00 a.m. on Jestha 16 at a health post building in Kushe Rural Municipality–6, Gharanga. Shahi is accused of verbally abusing, assaulting, and physically attacking a woman inside the facility.
Following a complaint regarding the alleged mistreatment, a team from the District Police Office Jajarkot took Shahi into custody.
Police Inspector and Information Officer Sudhir Kumar Khadka said that an investigation is underway under charges related to public misconduct and indecent behavior.
For further investigation, the District Administration Office Jajarkot has granted a seven-day extension for police custody. Police said the investigation into the incident is continuing.
