Birgunj — Students of Hari Khetan Multiple Campus in Birgunj staged protests after the sudden cancellation of Class 12 regular (terminal) examinations at the last moment.
The campus administration issued a notice postponing the exams scheduled to begin today, triggering immediate protests from students who had arrived to sit for the exams.
Students staged a sit-in at the main gate of the campus, demanding that examinations be conducted as per schedule and that academic activities remain uninterrupted. They also raised slogans against the campus administration and management committee.
According to students, ongoing internal conflicts among the administration, staff, and management have repeatedly disrupted classes, exams, and other academic activities. They expressed concern that such disputes could negatively impact their future.
During the protest, students marched from the campus to Birgunj’s main Ghantaghar Chowk, where they blocked the road and burned tires, causing traffic disruption in both directions.
Police from the District Police Office, Parsa, deployed additional personnel to control the situation. Minor clashes and attempts of vandalism were reported, and some students were taken into custody.
Police stated that efforts are ongoing to normalize the situation and restore traffic flow. Meanwhile, students have been continuously demanding the resignation of Acting Campus Chief Rabindra Yadav. The campus administration has not yet clarified the reason behind the exam cancellation.
