Birgunj, March 21 — The match between Karnali Province and Lumbini Province in the Prime Minister Cup One Day National Cricket Tournament has been halted due to rain.

The game, which began on Saturday at Narayani Cricket Ground in Birgunj, was stopped shortly after it started due to rainfall.

Before the interruption, Karnali had scored 20 runs in seven overs. Opener Rabindra Shahi scored 9 runs, while Sunil Dhamala added 7 runs. For Lumbini, Sandesh Thapa conceded 12 runs in four overs, and Rajendra Bam gave away 8 runs in three overs, including one maiden.

Earlier, Lumbini had won the toss and elected to field. According to officials, the match was stopped soon after rain began.

Rain has also affected the match between Koshi Province and Madhesh Province scheduled in Janakpur, along with the opening ceremony at Ram Janaki Stadium.

This year’s tournament is being held across four venues: Birgunj, Janakpur, and lower and upper Mulpani grounds in Kathmandu. A total of 19 matches will be played in Birgunj, 17 in Janakpur, and 10 in Mulpani.

Due to preparations for the ICC World Cup League 2, no matches are being held at the TU International Cricket Ground in Kirtipur. All scheduled matches there have been shifted to Mulpani.

The tournament features 10 teams, including three departmental and seven provincial teams. The winner will receive 1 million rupees, while the runner-up will get 500,000 rupees. Nepal Police Club is the defending champion.
