Bara, March 21 — Rahbar Ansari, a federal lawmaker from the Rastriya Swatantra Party elected from Bara Constituency No. 4, has suggested that Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ should focus on examining character rather than votes.
His remarks came after Dahal warned of taking action against party members who voted for the bell symbol. Ansari stated that secret voting is a fundamental principle of democracy and must be respected rather than questioned.
In a social media post, Ansari wrote that if real reform is intended, action should be taken against leaders living luxurious lives without clear income and against members who collect donations through intimidation.
He further said that brokers running to Singha Durbar for contract files, individuals demanding fuel coupons from government employees, and representatives involved in commission-based deals should face strict action.
Ansari was previously considered a close associate of Prachanda in the former Maoist Centre. In the 2022 election, he was elected as a provincial assembly member from Parsa Constituency No. 1 (A) under the Maoist Centre.
