An assistant inspector of the Armed Police Force Nepal and a young woman have been found dead in Kavrepalanchok district.
The deceased have been identified as Shakti Ram and Sharmila Chaudhary. Their bodies were discovered hanging from separate trees in Thuli Community Forest of Panchkhal–3.
Shakti Ram, who was stationed at APF Battalion No. 15 in Kavre, had left on a two-day leave on Baisakh 19, 2083 BS. When he failed to return and lost contact with his family, a missing person report was filed.
Similarly, 26-year-old Sharmila Chaudhary from Ghodaghodi Municipality–1 in Kailali had traveled to Kavre on Baisakh 18 to meet Shakti Ram. After losing contact with her family, her brother also filed a missing person complaint with police.
According to investigators, both individuals’ mobile phones had remained unreachable. During the search process, the last known location of Sharmila’s phone was traced to Kavrepalanchok.
Police launched an investigation after local residents reported seeing skeletal remains hanging from two trees in the community forest. A team from Panchkhal Police Post later confirmed the identities of the deceased.
The bodies have been sent to Dhulikhel Hospital for postmortem examination. Police say further investigation is underway to determine the circumstances surrounding the deaths.
